Pi Beta Phi Women’s Self Defense Seminar

On March 2, 2014 we held a Women’s Self Defense Seminar for the UCSD Pi Beta Phi Sorority. The training took place at Full Potential Martial Arts in San Diego.

Many thanks to Erica Chafin, VP of Membership for Pi Beta Phi for organizing the seminar, and to Full Potential Martial Arts instructors Sarah and Jamie for their instruction!

Women’s Self defense is a very serious topic. According to the National Institute of Justice Campus Sexual Assault Study, 1 in 5 college women has been raped, or was the subject of an attempted rape. This is a shocking statistic. Women’s self defense training is about awareness and technical self defense skills.

  1. What an informational seminar on Self-Defense for women. After reviewing the photos, it is very apparent that they enjoyed what they were learning, had fun, and gained a little more confidence.

It’s a plus for women and men to understand Self-Defense, it gives both women and men an advantage over a possible attacker; as well as gives one confidence during a possible altercation and/or with other situations in life.

Thanks for sharing the photos and techniques.
